ALT apps work on your Mac. The apps have no accounts, no analytics and no tracking. What you sort, convert, keep awake, drop or tuck away never leaves your Mac.

The free apps

Dock, Drop, Awake, Convert and Sort don’t connect to the internet. Their settings and history stay in your Mac’s Library folder, and you can remove them at any time.

Dock asks for Accessibility access so it can move windows, and optionally Screen Recording so it can show a preview of a tucked window. Those previews stay in memory on your Mac and are never saved or sent anywhere.

ALT Plus

If you subscribe, payment is handled by Stripe. Stripe collects your email address, card details and billing country to take payment and send receipts, under Stripe’s privacy policy. We never see your card number.

Your subscription gets a key (ALT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX), kept with your subscription at Stripe. Apart from support messages, below, and the website’s daily visit totals, ALT keeps no database of its own.

About once a day, an ALT app with ALT Plus on sends its key to alt.do to check the subscription is still active. Nothing else is sent: not your name, your files or what you do in the apps.

This website

alt.do counts its visits itself, without cookies and without any outside analytics service. Each page sends the page’s address, the name of the site that linked to it, a campaign tag if the link had one (such as ?ref=producthunt), and which download you clicked. Your IP address and browser are mixed with a random value that changes every day and is never stored, only so a visitor is counted once a day; the result can’t be traced back to you. Only daily totals are kept.

Like any website, alt.do’s server keeps a short-lived log of requests (IP address, page and time) to keep it running and stop abuse. Logs are deleted after two weeks. Keys are sent inside requests, not in their address, so they aren’t written to the log.

Support messages

If you write to us from the Support page, your name, email address and message are kept on alt.do’s server so we can reply. They aren’t used for anything else or shared, and we’ll delete them if you ask.

Your choices

You can cancel ALT Plus at any time from Manage Subscription in any ALT app. To have your billing details deleted, or to ask what Stripe holds about you, write to matthew@doublew.ltd. We’ll answer within 30 days.

ALT apps aren’t meant for children under 13, and we don’t knowingly collect anything about them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be here with a new date. A change to what is collected will be announced on this page before it takes effect.
